It is with real sadness that we discovered that Barbara Yung passed away today. Renown for her exotic looks, grace, and beauty, Barbara Yung’s long and extraordinary career as a feature performer spanned the early 1940s through the mid-1970s. Her act “Forbidden City: The Golden Age of Chinese Nightclubs.”, was one of the most popular acts on the Chinatown nightclub.
“We are sad to announce that burlesque legend Barbara Yung passed away today. Yung's career spanned from the 1940s to the mid-1970s. A favorite in San Francisco's Chinatown clubs, she also headlined clubs throughout the US, particularly in New Orleans, Dallas, and Hawaii. For her contribution to the art of burlesque, in 2011 we presented her the BHoF Living Legend award. Our condolences go out to her family and loved ones.” Announced the Burlesque Hall Of Fame this morning.
